So I have been asked by several different people to do the kiss from chapter eleven of Wild Hearts from Hiccup’s point of view. His is a much more difficult head to get into, and I’m a little unsure about playing with his character while I still have half of the story to go, but I wanted to give it a shot. >.<
Anonymous asked: what's your headcanon for astrid and stormfly's relationship?
(Decided to post these questions together, while I’m on the subject.)
Anonymous asked: Do you think that Astrid shares a friendship with stormfly as close as hiccup's and toothless'?
Lots of people have asked me about Astrid and Stormfly, actually. That’s an extremely difficult question to answer, though. First things first, Hiccup and Toothless are the main characters, so obviously we get to see more of the development of their relationship in the movies and show. Their friendship is literally the basis for the entire franchise, so it is almost impossible for us to measure their relationship against anybody else’s. We’re biased.
That said, Hiccup and Toothless probably still have a little bit stronger of a bond. From the beginning of the first movie, Hiccup is isolated from the rest of his village. Astrid, being the star student, is obviously not nearly as ostracized, and even seems to voluntarily keep to herself despite the other teens’ company. He’s the disappointment of Berk— she’s the pride. While there’s some dishonor on the Hofferson family because of her uncle’s whole drama, it’s clear that Astrid doesn’t have any trouble earning people’s respect. Astrid’s hardwired to live in the culture she’s in, while Hiccup is just barely making it out alive. Hiccup’s friendship with Toothless is likely the first where he feels completely comfortable just being himself, without any pressure to be more of a Viking or less of an innovator.
Taking that a step further, Toothless and Hiccup have to seriously depend on each other whenever they go flying. They can’t do it alone. Stormfly can go anywhere at any time, without needing Astrid’s help. Toothless can’t. Hiccup made his dragon a tail by hand because of the guilt that plagued him. Flying with him was never originally part of the plan. They had to adapt and learn how to fly together. In Stormfly’s case, she was a means of getting to dragon island before she was ever a friend for Astrid. She was transportation first, not someone to bond with. On a similar note, if Hiccup and Toothless don’t work together, the two could end up seriously injured or killed. The trust between Stormfly and Astrid isn’t required to be so strong, so for a while it probably isn’t.
Lastly, our two favorite doofuses have risked their lives for each other multiple times. Hiccup basically puts his life in danger just cutting the Night Fury free, and then he continues to risk it to make sure he can get to safety. He repeatedly puts his life on the line for Toothless, and the dragon returns the favor when he hears Hiccup screaming from the kill ring. Even after he saves his rider from the Nightmare, he stays when Hiccup tries to get him to leave. We don’t see a whole lot of that from Astrid and Stormfly, though I’m sure throughout the years it happens several times.
So I guess my answer is— for the first few years, probably not. There is an irrevocable bond between Hiccup and Toothless that would be hard to match since Astrid and Stormfly don’t befriend each other under similar circumstances. By the time we reach movie two, though, it’s a possibility. There’s a lot that can happen in five years. It’s like trying to say I love my best friend more than you love yours. But I still think that Hiccup and Toothless are always going to be a little bit closer than his girlfriend and her Nadder.

Anonymous asked: Have you ever thought of doing an Astrid cosplay? You'd make an amazing Astrid!
Confession time! I have never ever ever done a cosplay. But I’ve thought probably a thousand times that if I was to do one, it would be Astrid. Just cause I wanna dress up like a Viking babe and carry around my giant Toothless plush. It’s not off the table for a halloween thing.
Anonymous asked: Do you think that since Astrid's cooking is not always the safest, Hiccup has become quite the skilled cooker? How do you think the haddock kids react to her cooking lol?
He’s alright, nothing special. He’s usually too busy to cook, though every now and then he’ll whip up something simple. The Haddock family mostly eats in the Great Hall, where the food is always edible and the kids don’t have to cringe and pretend that they like the way their stew crunches. They spend a lot of nights over at the Jorgensons’ house.
